What does YUNITA HARUN express in “Retour A La Mode D’avant”?
“Retour A La Mode D’avant” is also called Fashion Flash Back. It’s all about the desire for the emotion, women and their needs, particularly based on fashion in early 1920s. This period is also known as the embarase of art deco or beginning of modern art, YUNITA HARUN wants to bring total emotion and intuition. Art Deco is designed with deep perpendicular and angular lines or shapes like rosettes, stars, circles and swirls. Inspired by architecture, New York City’s Chrysler Building as one of the most notable pieces of Art Deco architecture. Vintage Art Deco is an easy way to wear authentic 1920’s vintage without having to worry about your size or shape.
In fashion, most designers at that time (1920s) were trying something new changes and ideas. While at the “Retour A La Mode D’avant” YUNITA HARUN fashion show, I want to bridge a dream, but at the same time I think about the lifestyle of women today and give them variety. Clothes were started to be loose fitted and avoided the use of corset. No waist line, everything were focused hip lines. The length most of dresses were knee length with v or round neckline.
YUNITA HARUN takes a fantasy to bring audiences on to nostalgic history of fashion the 1920s and to add some realism to it. This is the most exciting part to do, an attempt to present better understanding about the 1920s. At the moment people only aware the 1920s fashion identical with Gatsby which was seen on the movie.
However, fashion design beauty in 1920s was actually bizarre and had various interpretations. YUNITA HARUN Design range were more classic looks as a whole but still innovative and glamour. The audiences may view those design character through fabric chosen and the use of colors such as black, gold, nude, pastel, grey and brown.
Why the 1920s?
YUNITA HARUN thinks design at that period was interesting. It is vintage, special and the first postmodernism design ever. The 1920s style is unique piece of the past! With influence era by The Great Gatsby fueling 1920s trends for clothing, fashion-forward women are searching for that perfect flapper frock for High Tea, Luncheons and Elegant evening function or a Delicate day dress.
The 1920s fashion trends reflected a woman’s changing role in society. The tendency to show more skin, wear less-fitted clothing and chop off their hair were the trends du jour for the girl eager to liberate their style from the constrictive, conservative looks of early 20th century fashion wardrobes. Also, the 1920s decades took great inspiration from the era’s trends, releasing “revival” pieces resembling authentic pieces from the 1920s vintage. We can’t just miss it!
Daring in terms of finding a distinctive design and new patterns. It is not easy to search design line direction and cut directly from dummy. The lifestyle and cultural changes influenced fashion and, how women dressed, presented themselves and chose to live their lives. For a touch of ’20s carried with vintage designs. Today, a vintage designs from any of the eras is a obtainable way to channel the ’20s without feeling too dressed up.
