She realizes that this opportunity will bring her to a tremendous experiences, visiting various places of interests all over Indonesia and learn more about Indonesian marine life. As well as diving activity, is a “must” to complete her daily routine duty, which was another extreme life-changing experience.

To enroll this event, she fullfil some of the requirments i.e. Indonesian citizen, have a basic knowledge of scuba diving and marine conservation, positive and pleasant personality, beautiful, intelligent, virtuous, in good health and ability to speak in English. Dayu meets all of these!

All started when Dayu Prastini Hatmanti or Dayu as her nickname, got a chance to go to Russia, a year ago. She was invited as a speaker to talk about Indonesian tourism at one of an International Tourism Event. Then suddenly she started to realized that actually she likes going to the beaches or seas more than going to the mountains. Dayu told herself that she needs to broaden her knowledge about Indonesian marine life.

Annual event – This is scheduled to be an annual event and aims to promote sport diving, and diving destinations in Indonesia to the world which is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.  In addition, to support the harmonization and the dependence between humandkind and the sea, and encouraging marine conservation efforts, protection and preservation through the beauty of Indonesian women. The efforts also to boost the local dive tourism in Sabah. The crowned winner would become an ambassador to oceans around the world besides promoting marine conservation.

It is so obvious that Indonesia as an archipelago has a huge numbers of vast seas and felt like there are always new things to explore in each of her trip. It was a big surprise when a few months later she got a contract base agreement with one of a leading Indonesian private televisions, as a host on a sea-traveling TV show. Dayu already fell in love in diving as a sport.

According to Dayu, it becomes a dilemma to just blame the fishermen as the ones who cause coral extinction. The fishermen are facing social problems because most of them live under poverty and hunting sharks is one of the few choices for them to earn money to survive.  There are also situations that are similar, where local fishermen are taking away turtle’s eggs, which in the end, can lead to turtles’ extinction.

Well, here is the time she has to step in. In her capacity, she needs to show the whole situation in a bigger pictures. She realized that this is not an easy thing to do, but she extremly sure that someone one should give a try to help this marine conservation problems in our country!

The event is mainly to expose the marine environment and scuba diving with inner courage of today’s modern women and simultaneously advocate worldwide marine conservation. It’s really fun! As she can explore what we have underwater. Since it is an extreme sport, and she admitted that really need sufficient stamina to enable us to remain underwater for long hours!

How many of us realize on bad of human actions actually disrupt the marine life. Our local fishermen hunt sharks in order to be sold with high prices in the market. They do not realize that actually by killing sharks, they also contribute in the destruction of sea corals. It is because of the sharks are predators in the sea, that eat up smaller fishes.

The population of sharks declines from time to time, then the number of small fishes will increase. These small fishes are the ones that kill the sea corals because they scratch or even eat them up. So, the fewer number of sharks we have in the sea, the more sea corals are dying.

It becomes a dilemma to just blame the fishermen as the ones who cause coral extinction. The fishermen are facing social problems because most of them live under poverty and hunting sharks is one of the few choices for them to earn money to survive. There are also situations that are similar, where local fishermen are taking away turtle’s eggs, which in the end, can lead to turtles’ extinction.

Dayu eventually got her first international task as a Miss Scuba International. Just recently in January 2012, she was visiting Dusseldorf in Germany, to promote two main the above objectives. During the ten days in a marine exhibition where she met various people and got tremendous of experiences to bring home and share with others here back in the country.
